Belated update: I have another Kickstarter going!

I honestly thought everybody knew about it, but apparently not, so...  it's called "A proper picture for my 'Pickman's Model!', and it's for art:

Backstory: Once upon a time, I sold my first short story to a Cthulhu Mythos anthology. It was (and is) a fairly demented love story called 'Pickman's Model,' because shame is for other people; and I was quite proud of it. And happy that it sold. Selling fiction is wonderful. ...And then disaster struck, starting with how the story was formatted on the page and ending with the sudden death of the publisher. Which means I didn't get paid! And I'm not going to get paid for it the original way, either, because I don't importune widows to settle their late husband's debts.  But I decided that I'm going to get paid for it somehow. As per my original contract, I have the right to republish; so I've taken my story, revised and expanded it, and will release it myself.

I just need some art for it, which is where this Kickstarter comes in. I have an artist lined up - webcomic Ben Fleuter, and his aesthetic is perfect for this project; but art costs money, particularly when you're self-publishing. The base goal will pay for a suitable drawing for the story, which will be distributed along with the story itself to backers at certain levels. If we hit our goal, there will be stretch goals to pay for the art I'll be commissioning for future projects. I have two chapbooks (four stories each) that I'm preparing for publication; they could absolutely use some art, too.

And that's pretty much it. Back the Kickstarter, pay for art, get the story if you pick that tier. And maybe even get some future stories, too.

The short story sampler has been distributed.

It should be available now via Backerkit. And with that, this Kickstarter is... done? I'm not closing it down right away; but the rewards are now distributed, so all that has to be done is shutdown stuff.

Thanks for backing, folks! It made a huge difference to the publication schedule. I am very thankful four your help and support.

The books have arrived!

BEHOLD!

All can be found at Amazon.

The Kickstarter reward books. My next step is to create shipping profiles, sign my signature a billion times, print out labels, and get these suckers out. Hopefully that will not take more than a week. After that, all I have to do is get the sampler done and then this project is largely in the can.  Huzzah!

PS: Pre-order store is still open, and I have a slight margin of extra books that I can use to fulfill pre-orders right away.

Roadmap for TALES FROM THE FERMI RESOLUTION.
about 3 years ago – Sun, Jan 31, 2021 at 08:13:46 AM

I went through last night and stomped typos left and right, took a deep breath, and pulled the trigger. I've looked at TALES FROM THE FERMI RESOLUTION easily for long enough that the words are just random jumbles of letters on the page who's gonna buy this, man, but every author does that with every book they write. The important thing is, it's out.

Next up is: the pre-order store closes Friday. At that point I can make a final count (it will also let me squash any typos that survived this far and now think that they're safe), order the books, then sign them and send them out.  After that I can finish up the sampler, get that ready to go, and release it. Then the project's done, I think. Until the next one.  Which probably won't be MORGAN BAROD: I don't think I need a Kickstarter for that one! Thanks for that, by the way.
